The Ford Boys’ & Girls’ Day School is proud to host the 2018 Scripps National Spelling Bee with an unmatched focus on helping students succeed at spelling. The school has participated in National Bee for more than 25 years and this year it sent its first Girl’s team to the National Finals.

Weekly spelling camp sessions offer students opportunity to come together at the school to practice and share learning moments. All activities are designed to enhance students’ spelling, vocabulary, and grammar skills. Students go home after camp on Wednesday evenings and are tested on spelling, vocabulary, and grammar and practiced before school every day.

At the National Bee, students are graded on oral and written, as well as verbally and written sections. All students are given written materials before the national competition with papers, letters, and sample spelling words included. At Ford Boys’ & Girls’ Day School we believe that learning is not restricted to the traditional classroom. As a private, all-girls, nationally accredited school offering Pre-K through 8th grade education, all of our high school students are provided with college-preparatory education from Early to the Advance level. From allowing students to explore college options beyond their current school district, to designing programs that simulate some of the more challenging college courses, this unique commitment allows students to explore the best possible education for their individual needs and the learning experience they want for themselves. Our programming, blended with student-centered learning, challenges students and simultaneously affords students an opportunity to learn by doing and takes advantage of technology in order to meet the changing needs of each student.
