For four of his most iconic NBA seasons, LeBron James was arguably the world's most famous athlete -- a 14-time NBA champion, multiple league MVP and the man who led the Miami Heat to an NBA championship in 2011.
Now, James' story has continued in a new way: as author.
James has released "The Land: A Young Fan's Journey to Akron and the Cavaliers," a children's book co-written with Dr. Michael Smith, the former Akron city council member. The book is set to be published on August 28 by Houghton Mifflin Harcourt.

In one chapter, 8-year-old James say he spent most of his youth "hanging out" with his three brothers and his cousins.
"My favorite things to do was ride bikes and play baseball, which is a game we actually won all of the time," he wrote.
One chapter focuses on James' most famous sporting moment, the first time he came out of the locker room after winning a title as a Cleveland Cavalier in 2007. In another, the eight-year-old admires a bear and reflects on the stresses of being a child whose "future was uncertain."
A special 'LeBron James Day' is being held in Akron today.

"My name is King James. In February 2008, I was drafted to play for the Miami Heat. In July 2011, I made history as the first player to win titles with two different teams. "My Cavaliers jersey will hang in the rafters at The Q someday and if that day comes, I want you all to know that I'll be waiting to meet you."
