President Trump, who is scheduled to visit Los Angeles on Thursday, has scheduled a meeting with the leaders of the Los Angeles bid committee to discuss the opportunities provided by hosting the 2028 Olympics.

Officials with the Los Angeles Games are convinced that securing the Olympic Games and keeping it in Southern California was a calculated decision.

The joint conference call will provide the opportunity for Trump to review Los Angeles' business proposals and meet with Olympic leaders.

The 2028 Olympics will be awarded in September in Lima, Peru. The International Olympic Committee has scheduled the president's conference call for 11 a.m. Eastern.

Trump, who is expected to stay one night in Los Angeles and return to Washington on Friday, plans to meet with Olympic leaders and privately with those involved in preparing the future games.

President Trump, who was elected in 2016, backed the effort to have the Olympics in Los Angeles during his campaign and said it could bring billions of dollars into the local economy.
