Thousands of people lined up along Figueroa Street in downtown Los Angeles on Friday night for Michael Jordan's 57th birthday party, which began with a concert by Rick Ross and Trey Songz, and ended with a celebration of his amazing exploits at halftime during the NBA All-Star Game.

The atmosphere inside Staples Center and at the party afterward was nothing short of extraordinary, with the Jordan family, including several grandchildren, being recognized and honored in the ovation during a ceremony after All-Star Stephen Curry and his wife Ayesha Jordan accepted their shiny All-Star trophy.

The Jordan family met the stars of Saturday night, with Orlando Magic guard D.J. Augustin meeting Jordan for the first time and Magic Johnson sharing a private conversation with Johnson. Johnson, who surprised the crowd by being able to hear the introductions of the teams after the game, called Jordan "a unique individual who has always been the most successful basketball player in all of sports."

Warriors rookie DeMarcus Cousins also crossed paths with Jordan, and he thanked Jordan for "for believing in me."

"You can put him in any category and you will find someone who would have respect for you," Cousins said.

Jordan, who has sold 80 million shoes, posed for photos in an all-white suit. But most of the time, it was a casual event, with his wife Yvette taking to the stage and singing Jordan's praises while his kids snapped photos with one another.

"He's the best basketball player of all time," Jordan's daughter, Loni, said.

Jordan's relationship with the game and the game and others within the NBA has continued to grow, and his presence at All-Star weekend was extraordinary. On Friday night, there was plenty of color, sound and history being made, with Jordan being honored for his contributions to the game.

"Tonight is one of the greatest nights of my life," Jordan said.

At halftime, a video was shown, accompanied by a marching band, recounting Jordan's childhood in North Carolina and his incredible rise to stardom in the NBA, followed by guest appearances by Magic Johnson, Will Smith, Ice Cube, Gabrielle Union, Carmelo Anthony, Russell Westbrook, LeBron James, Kobe Bryant, Michael McDonald, Craig Hodges, Carl Lewis, the under-16 boys' national team, Steve Nash, George Harrison, the National Basketball Assn. Players Association Executive Director Michele Roberts, San Antonio Spurs Coach Gregg Popovich, Candace Parker, Houston Rockets Coach Mike D'Antoni, Isiah Thomas, Chuck Daly, Dave Bing, Bill Russell, Pat Riley, Shaquille O'Neal, Shaquille O'Neal, Magic Johnson, Earvin "Magic" Johnson, Hank Aaron, Michael Jordan, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Rick Barry, Danica Patrick, Yao Ming, Hakeem Olajuwon, David Robinson, Mark Jackson, John Stockton, Karl Malone, Jerry West, Kevin McHale, Shaquille O'Neal, Karl Malone, Mike Krzyzewski, Charles Barkley, Stephen Curry, Kobe Bryant, Robert Horry, Russell Westbrook, LeBron James, Carmelo Anthony, Kevin Durant, Dirk Nowitzki, Tim Duncan, Dikembe Mutombo, Patrick Ewing, Clyde Drexler, and more.

The highlight came when Johnson was honored, and Jordan asked where Johnson was at the time. When Johnson pointed to the large basketball set up, Jordan hugged Johnson, looked over to the crowd and said: "Well, we are a team."

After playing a game of H-O-R-S-E at halftime, people were excited and couldn't believe the spontaneous dance party that happened in the arena. Yes, that did happen.
