A lot of you have been talking about the post that Dr. Phil Wore A Fat Suit On His Show, which took place on the final episode of his show this week, and the multiple online voices who’ve pointed out that his attempt at adding a bit of body positivity to his traditionally macho finale was tone deaf at best and offensive to fat people at worst.

First off, was the suit actually that dark? It looked like it was hot pink on him. It’s not, and, you know, really easy to fake a puffy physique when you’re on television, as we learned from castmate Holly Montag (Phil’s daughter and also an average American when it comes to body types).

So Phil did actually wear a fat suit on his ep, which wasn’t supposed to distract viewers. This was a finale for his final season of the show, and he’s a man who lives in a house with 12 bedrooms because fat people just need to be told “just stand on it!” a lot.

But then there was the bit he did when he appeared on camera last Friday, where he claimed that his ratings were down after he admitted that he’d done something similar. Well, that’s kinda true — and, in fact, The Biggest Loser premiered to new ratings last night, which was only down 20% from its 2018 season finale. So then the talk show cancelled after its 11th season, and Phil started a podcast, which also happens to be where everybody’s talking about this.

So it seems like the reasons he’s been held accountable for this are really more about his show getting canceled and not that he blatantly humiliated people and pretended to have a puffy frame for comedic effect.

He sat on a fat-suit-adorned couch on yesterday’s show, and he walked out on camera mid-interview when one of his guests attempted to make a joke about all of the fat jokes he was making. But then he decided to do nothing more — nothing about body positivity, nothing about how disgusted they are with him.

If you missed the show yesterday, you can watch the good parts below:

Best line of the show from Wearing a Fat Suit … Phil: I’m worth a lot of money you fucking pigs. That was the best line of the day.

Wearing a Fat Suit … Dr. Phil: The most important quality that a man has is … Dr. Phil: Human growth hormone?

Wearing a Fat Suit … Phil: Human growth hormone? Best line from the show today was the addition of a skinny Rick Ross reference. You guys had a Rick Ross joke coming up, right?

Best line of the show from Dr. Phil … Dr. Phil: In his new book, Rick Ross writes, “There’s a reason how I do it. It’s all in my DNA.” He’s talking about all men, just unlike men.

Best line of the show from Dr. Phil … Dr. Phil: One of the things I’m interested in doing is learning how to dress for the shirtless phase of my life … Dr. Phil: And I’m gonna walk into every room naked like I do.

Best line of the show from Dr. Phil … Dr. Phil: It’s funny, but the real reason Rick Ross is sexiest is to hear all the squeals … Dr. Phil: You say nothing. … Dr. Phil: You get in here and you pretend like nothing’s gonna happen.

The best thing Dr. Phil did in his entire sermon about Luke 15. I highly recommend you check it out. I promise, it’s the best thing he ever said.

Got a funny thing to say or think about in the comments? We encourage it.
