Women’s high street chain, River Island, celebrated its 150th anniversary today by launching a new electric blue floral dress available exclusively at its stores for £90. The limited-edition dress was the brainchild of actress-turned-fashion designer, Yasmin Le Bon, who fell for the season-specific fashion label through their dress department. Speaking at the launch event, the star said the company “changed my life” and that River Island had “loved” her. “I’m a fan of River Island’s design excellence and loyalty to their customers,” she said. “No one knows more about the season than River Island. It really is the catwalk in real life and I’m so happy to be a part of it.”

Responding to the huge interest, River Island tweeted out the news at the top of the morning. “You’ve heard about Miss Lily Firth, the teenage wannabe vicar who got her braces off (to teach students yoga) so she could marry Prince William at the Royal Variety Show. Well now meet Miss Sophia Firth – the 15-year-old schoolgirl who wanted to be a Tudor battleaxe… and still couldn’t impress Steven Moffat,” the tweet read.

If you can’t even stop to take a peek at the shop front, then you can’t afford River Island either. The London based company employs more than 2,700 people and is part of British fashion giant Associated British Foods (ABF). Many of the group’s brands and businesses such as food processing firm Primark and online retailer, ABF Global Brands also fall under the River Island umbrella.

The company continues to expand in the UK and overseas and 2016/17 was the first time River Island opened a new factory in 43 years. By the end of last year the company ran over 450 stores in 30 countries. It is active on both sides of the pond, particularly in Europe. Fashion labels Phoebe Philo of Céline and Stella McCartney have both gained enormous popularity at River Island through collaborations, but you can expect to find the label next to Prada on any visit to London’s luxury shopping district, Sloane Square.

In other words, with your slender figure, you should have no problem finding an outfit for an occasion of any kind.
