Serra defensive end Nusi Malani appeared set to commit to Stanford on National Signing Day, the National Letter of Intent signing date.
The 6-foot-4, 210-pound senior was reportedly set to sign a National Letter of Intent Tuesday with Stanford coach David Shaw after visiting the university last weekend.
At Serra, Malani posted a composite score of 98.59 and was named a highly-regarded McDonald’s All-American. He registered 19 sacks and 34.5 tackles for loss over the last two seasons for the Padres. He also had 64 tackles, seven forced fumbles and a fumble recovery during his high school career.
Malani is one of 10 signees for the Serra football team for the 2020 season. The other nine signees are placekicker Ezra Lockhart (Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute); safeties Kaifor Koval (Arizona State), Talari Perry (San Diego State) and Jack Harcharan (Southern Mississippi), linebacker Cam Logan (North Dakota State), cornerback Tyrek Wright (San Jose State), offensive lineman Devante Lyon (University of Washington), defensive lineman Evan Balboa (Palomar), offensive lineman Conner Quinn (Western Washington) and quarterback Kwame Pressley (South Carolina).
